The closest trail to civilization in the Gunnison Valley, the Van Tuyl Loop, leaves out of the Northwest corner of Gunnison. Head West on Spencer Artery, the stoplight by Walmart. From at that place, have a right onto Quartz Loma Rd and left on Palisade Ave. Palisade Ave ends at Charmar Park, the main parking area for the Van Tuyl Loop.
